Lucknow: A police constable stationed at Nigohan police station here, allegedly assaulted a priest for conducting wedding rituals at a slow pace.

The incident happened during the marriage ceremony of constable Sonu Jatav and the daughter of one Om Prakash Prajapati in the Nigohan area.

Tensions escalated when Jatav urged priest Vivek Shukla to expedite the rituals, and the priest declined. This refusal led to a physical altercation as Jatav reportedly thrashed the priest in front of the guests. Shukla’s brother, Sachin, also became a victim when he attempted to intervene.

Furthermore, Jatav allegedly threatened the priest and his brother, warning of severe consequences if they reported the incident.

Additional deputy commissioner of police, South Zone, Shashank Singh, confirmed that an FIR has been filed against constable Jatav, and investigations are underway.
