U23 State A Trophy: Om Munde’s ton powers Odisha to four-wicket win over Jharkhand
Vadodara: A brilliant century from opener Om T Munde set the tone for Odisha’s impressive four-wicket victory over Jharkhand in the U23 State A Trophy (One-Day Format) 2025–26 match at the Darshanam Sports and Education Academy, here on Thursday. Munde’s composed 107 off 116 balls anchored Odisha’s successful chase of 242, ensuring they sealed the match with 10 balls to spare.
Jharkhand, who opted to bat first after winning the toss, posted 241/8 in 50 overs. The innings was led by Bisesh Dutta, who scored 94 off 127 balls and Rajan Deep scored a brisk 49 off 43 balls. Odisha’s bowlers kept the innings in check, with Soumya Ranjan Lenka starring with figures of 3/39, while Panakala Sasanka chipped in with 2/38.
In response, Odisha’s chase revolved around Munde’s match-defining ton. Despite wickets falling at intervals, the opener held firm before Soumya Ranjan Lenka produced a stunning late assault, hammering an unbeaten 40 off 19 balls (5 fours, 2 sixes) at a strike rate of over 210. His cameo propelled Odisha to 242/6 in 48.2 overs.
Jharkhand’s attack was led by Harsh Raj (2/32) and Amit Kumar (2/60), but Odisha’s strong batting display proved decisive at the end.
