U23 State A Trophy: Mumbai thrash Odisha by 8 wickets
Vadodara: Mumbai registered a dominant eight-wicket win over Odisha in their U23 State A Trophy (One-Day format) 2025-26 fixture at Kotambi Stadium B Ground, Vadodara. Chasing 198, Mumbai cruised home in just 29.5 overs on the back of a fluent unbeaten half-century from Jay Jain.
Mumbai, who won the toss and opted to field, bowled out Odisha for 197 in 43.2 overs. Odisha opener Dinesh K Majhi was the standout performer with a fighting 60 off 73 balls, hitting six fours. Sujal K Singh added 40 off 51, but the rest of the batting order failed to convert starts.
For Mumbai, Himanshu Singh led the attack with an impressive 3 for 44 from 10 overs, while Zaid Patankar supported effectively with 2 for 30 in his 6.2-over spell.
In response, Mumbai’s chase was anchored by a commanding knock from Jay Jain, who smashed an unbeaten 77 off 59 balls, slamming four fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 130.51. He was well supported by Prateek Yadav, who compiled a steady 63 off 71 balls to take Mumbai home comfortably.
Odisha’s bowlers struggled to create breakthroughs, with Ashutosh Chhuria and Sayed Tufayl Ahmad picking up a wicket each.
