TN CM Stalin to inaugurate agriculture expo in Tiruvannamalai on Dec 27
Chennai: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin will inaugurate the Agriculture Expo-cum-Seminar 2025 in Tiruvannamalai on December 27, agriculture and farmers welfare minister M R K Panneerselvam said on Wednesday.
The two-day event will be held on December 27 and 28 at a venue opposite the Government Higher Secondary School on Tirukoilur Road in Tiruvannamalai. It is being organised by the Tamil Nadu Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department. The minister urged farmers to attend the expo and make use of the opportunities and information on offer.
Panneerselvam said similar events were conducted earlier this year, with the first held on June 11 at Vijayamangalam near Perundurai in Erode district and the second on September 27 at the Chennai Trade Centre in Nandambakkam. The Tiruvannamalai edition will be the third large-scale event aimed at showcasing agricultural produce, improving productivity and promoting agro-based industries.
According to the minister, the expo will focus on sharing knowledge about modern farming technologies, new innovations, agricultural machinery, high-yielding and traditional crop varieties, and post-harvest management practices.
Exhibits and sessions will also cover value addition methods, the use of electronic technologies in agriculture, marketing strategies, organic and natural farming practices, food processing, livestock and fisheries, as well as services such as crop loans, crop insurance and export-related awareness. The programme is expected to benefit farmers, students, the general public and entrepreneurs.
During the inaugural function, the chief minister will distribute welfare assistance amounting to Rs 669 crore to 80,571 farmers. Several government departments will also set up pavilions at the venue to showcase their schemes and activities.
