SOA commended for playing vital role in Odisha’s fight against Covid

Bhubaneswar: Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan Deemed to be University (SOA) received praise from VK Pandian, chairman of 5T and Naveen Odisha, for its significant contribution in reducing Covid-19 fatalities in Odisha. Speaking at a ceremony during the ongoing 1st World Odia Language Conference at SOA, Pandian highlighted the university’s pivotal role in establishing and operating five stand-alone Covid hospitals across the state.

During the felicitation ceremony for Odia novelist Bibhuti Patnaik, Pandian recalled his initial visit to SOA during the early days of the pandemic. He discussed potential collaborations with the state government to combat the disease and expressed confidence in the university’s capabilities after assessing its facilities and consulting with doctors.

Acknowledging the commitment of SOA’s Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, he mentioned that they exceeded their promises and worked tirelessly to save lives. He emphasised the excellent teamwork, which resulted in a lower fatality rate in Odisha compared to other states.

Highlighting the state government’s approach, Pandian mentioned the focus on teamwork, technology, transparency, and adherence to timelines in managing the pandemic. The chief minister, Naveen Patnaik, prioritised saving every life, and SOA’s efforts played a crucial role in the successful execution of the government’s blueprint for pandemic management in the state.
