Hyderabad: To handle the surge in passenger traffic during the festive season, the South Central Railway (SCR) has announced special train services between Secunderabad and Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin from October 28 to November 4.

According to SCR, Train No. 07081 Secunderabad–Hazrat Nizamuddin will operate on October 28 and November 2, while the return service, Train No. 07082 Hazrat Nizamuddin–Secunderabad, will run on October 30 and November 4.

These special trains will halt at Medchal, Kamareddi, Basar, Mudkhed, Nanded, Purna, Basmat, Hingoli, Washim, Akola, Malkapur, Khandwa, Itarsi, Narmadapuram, Rani Kamalapati, Bhopal, Bina, Jhansi, Gwalior, Dhaulpur, Agra Cantt and Mathura stations in both directions.

Each train will have AC First Class, AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper and General Second Class coaches.

SCR officials said the zone has already managed a record festive rush between September 21 and October 20, operating 1,010 regular and special trains, which is 47 per cent more than last year’s 684 trains during the same period.

SCR general manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava said around 4.8 crore passengers travelled during this time across express, passenger and special trains. To accommodate additional passengers, 237 extra coaches were attached to regular trains and temporary stoppages were introduced at Lingampalli, Hi-tech City, Charlapalli and Malkajgiri to ease congestion at major terminals in Hyderabad.

The railway zone also set up 26 holding areas at major stations for crowd management, including Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Guntur, Nanded and Akola, ensuring smoother boarding and safer travel for passengers.
