Odisha’s well-known wrestler and coach Siba Charan Bose, popularly known as ‘Kanhu da’ in wrestling circuit has died at the age of 74 in Cuttack on Wednesday afternoon, due to Covid.

Born on March 15, 1947 in Cuttack, Bose worked for the development of wrestling in the state, and as a qualified NIS coach, he was also Odisha’s wrestling coach in 1969-70.

Bose started his working career at Sports Authority of India (SAI) and he too was India’s wrestling coach.

He was a popular figure in Cuttack’s wrestling circuit and was responsible for grooming many wrestlers from the state.

Odisha Wrestling Association members including the secretary Kishor Behera extended condolences to the bereaved family.
