DMRC officials submit DPR to chief secretary PK Jena in Bhubaneswar.

The Phase-I of Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project between Biju Patnaik Airport and Trisulia Square in Cuttack will cover a distance of 26 km and have 20 stations.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) after conducting traffic survey, geo-technical investigation, topo-graphic survey, environmental and social impact assessments, completed the Detailed Project Report (DPR) and submitted to the chief secretary PK Jena on August 16, during a meeting held by Bhubaneswar Metro Rail Corporation.

According to the DPR, the stations will be at Biju Patnaik Airport, Capital Hospital, Sishu Bhawan, Bapujinagar, Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Ram Mandir Square, Vanivihar, Acharya Vihar Square, Jaydev Vihar Square, Xavier Square, Rail Sadan, District Centre, Damana Square, Patia Square, KIIT Square, Nandan Vihar, Raghunathpur, Nandankanan Zoological Park, Phulapokhari and Trisulia Square.

On April 1, 2023, chief minister Naveen Patnaik had sanctioned the first phase of the Metro Rail Project under 5T mandate connecting Bhubaneswar Airport and Trisulia Square, which will be subsequently extended to cover Khurda, Puri and other areas of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack city.
