Odisha to experience heat wave between April 16-19
The day temperature in districts of interior Odisha including western districts will continue to record more than 40 degree Celsius and some places may record between 43 and 45 degree Celsius between April 16 and April 19, SOA Centre for Environment and Climate (CEC) has said.
Coastal districts temperature may rise during the same period but the temperature may increase to 40 and 41 degree Celsius on April 17th and April 18 in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Balasore and Chandbali due to absence of sea breeze from Bay of Bengal.
However, temperature will decrease from April 20 at both coastal and interior districts due to strengthening of sea breeze in coastal districts.
There is probability of kalabaisakhi between April 14 and April 16 in south interior and coastal districts including Bhubaneswar and Cuttack due to approach of westerly upper air through central India to coastal Odisha.
Kalabaisakhi may again occur in the State after April 20. As per IMD model forecast, southwest monsoon rainfall will be normal during June to September in 2022 due to favourable La-Nina condition over equatorial Pacific Ocean now and also during monsoon period and moreover neutral Indian Ocean Dipole but negative dipole just after onset of monsoon in Indian Ocean.
Sea surface temperature over Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean control the monsoon rain over Indian subcontinent, these are favorable, so monsoon rain will be normal from 96 to 104 per cent from June to September that is 99 per cent of long period average with plus or minus 5 per cent error.
