OCA inter district school cricket tournament: One-sided affairs mark preliminary league round

Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: A series of emphatic results marked the latest round of matches in the OCA Inter District School Cricket Tournament 2025-26 (One-Day format), with several teams registering commanding victories during the first phase of the preliminary league on Thursday.

At the BJB School Ground, Khordha, Bhubaneswar-A cruised to a dominant 10-wicket win over Ganjam. After opting to bat, Ganjam were bundled out for 100 in 32.1 overs, with Bikash Behera (28) and Ariyan Das (17) offering limited resistance. Bhubaneswar-A’s bowlers shared the spoils, led by Rahul Das (2/9) and Bimaljyoti Behera (2/17). In reply, Bhubaneswar-A chased down the target with ease, reaching 101 without loss in just 16.3 overs, thanks to an unbeaten 59 off 51 balls by Aditya Mishra, well supported by Dhanraj Ray (34).

Meanwhile, at the Sunshine Cricket Ground, Kandhamal registered a comfortable six-wicket victory over Paradip. Paradip struggled to build momentum and finished on 103/9 in 45 overs, with Ayasha Panda (32) top-scoring. Kandhamal’s bowling was spearheaded by a sensational spell from Trilochan Bindhani, who claimed 6 for 9 in 9 overs. Kandhamal then chased down the target at a steady pace, reaching 104/4 in 19.2 overs, riding on Subhranshu Das’ 55 off 71 balls.

At the Ravenshaw-II Ground, Sundargarh delivered a comprehensive all-round performance to crush Nuapada by 131 runs. Batting first, Sundargarh posted a formidable 200 all out in 37 overs, anchored by Anmol Bhalla’s 55 off 80 balls, with useful contributions from Rehan Khan (33). Nuapada’s chase never took off as they were skittled for 69 in 21 overs, despite Prayash K. Dharua’s 25. Anmol Bhalla capped a fine match with the ball as well, returning figures of 5 for 11.

A tense finish unfolded at the Kuranga Sasan Ground, where Nabarangpur edged past Cuttack-B by three wickets. Cuttack-B were bowled out for 86 in 34.2 overs, with Prince Priyanshu Sahoo (20) and Guru Prasad Sahoo (18) being the main scorers. Nabarangpur’s chase proved tricky, but Nikhilesh Baisak’s gritty unbeaten 32 off 116 balls guided them to 87/7 in 36.1 overs, sealing the win.

At the Bidanasi Ground, Boudh outclassed Nayagarh with a convincing 134-run victory. Boudh piled up 208 all out in 36.2 overs, led by Omshree Urma (41) and Sai Prajwal (39). Nayagarh’s response collapsed early as they were dismissed for 74 in 17 overs, despite small contributions from Dibya Mohapatra (17*) and Sahil Parida (17). Sai Prajwal starred with an all-round show, picking up 3 for 25 to go with his batting effort.

In another dominant display, Jajpur defeated Kendrapara by 97 runs at the Mula Padia Ground. Jajpur posted 194 all out in 41.5 overs, with Somnath Jena (42) and Dibyam Baral (40) laying the foundation. Kendrapara were then bowled out for 97 in 29.4 overs, as Sk Salik Mohammad ran through the batting lineup with outstanding figures of 5 for 14, sealing a comprehensive win for Jajpur.
