New Mangalore Port to mark 50 glorious years with Golden Jubilee celebration on Nov 13
Mangaluru (Karnataka): The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) is set to celebrate its Golden Jubilee on November 13, marking five decades of its service to India’s maritime sector. The commemorative event will be held at Dr BR Ambedkar Stadium in Mangaluru.
Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal will be the chief guest, while union minister for new and renewable energy Pralhad Joshi and Karnataka minister for fisheries, ports and inland water transport Mankal Vaidya are also scheduled to attend the ceremony, the port authority said in an official statement.
The event is expected to draw thousands of participants, including port employees, trade associations, shipping stakeholders, retired officials, students and members of the public.
A special exhibition showcasing the port’s 50-year journey, key achievements and development milestones will be one of the major highlights. An exhibition vehicle featuring the same display will later tour the hinterland regions to raise awareness about the port’s role in India’s maritime trade and regional economic growth, officials said.
As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, the NMPA will also inaugurate several new infrastructure projects and dedicate them to the nation, reaffirming its commitment to expanding port capacity and supporting sustainable logistics.
Established in 1974, the New Mangalore Port has grown into one of India’s leading major ports, serving as a crucial trade gateway for Karnataka’s industrial and agricultural exports.
