Bhubaneswar: A low pressure area has formed over West central Bay of Bengal and neighbourhood on Sept 8.

The system will be very close to South Odisha coast on Sept 10 and will move along the coast up to Sept 11, and the movement will be Northwestwards in North Odisha region, said Dr SC Sahu, CEC of SOA.

Under its influence, rainfall intensity will increase from Sept 9 night. Widespread moderate rain from Sept 9 night to Sept 11 morning in South Odisha and adjoining coastal Odisha region with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few locations in the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Balangir, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Angul, Ganjam, Rayagada, Gajapati, Nawarangpur, Puri and Jagatsinghpur.

From Sept 11, widespread to moderate rainfall will increase in North Odisha region and would continue up to Sept 12 with heavy to very heavy rain at a few locations in Khurda, Cuttack, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Dhenkanal, Angul, Deogarh, Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Sambalpur and Jagatsinghpur.

However, there is probability of very heavy rainfall in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack on Sept 10 and Sept 11.
