Gambling racket busted in Kolkata, 14 nabbed

Kolkata: Acting on a tip-off, Kolkata Police on Saturday raided a guest house room on Canal South Road and busted a gambling den, arresting 14 individuals for their involvement in the illegal activity, PTI reported.

Police said the room had been converted into a makeshift gambling centre where cash transactions were actively taking place. During the raid, officers seized Rs 5.3 lakh in cash, 11 decks of playing cards and several documents linked to the operation.

A case has been registered under multiple provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigations are underway to trace others associated with the racket.
