Full list of players retained by all IPL franchises ahead of IPL 2026 auction

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction approaches, all 10 franchises have finalised their retentions, confirming the players who will stay and those released ahead of the December 16 auction in Abu Dhabi. A total of 173 players, including 49 overseas cricketers, have been retained across teams, leaving 77 slots available with a combined purse of Rs 237.55 crore.

Top Indian stars such as Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill, MS Dhoni and Arshdeep Singh have been retained, while big international names including Andre Russell, Glenn Maxwell, Faf du Plessis, David Miller and Adam Zampa were released.

One of the biggest developments of the retention window was a blockbuster trade involving Sanju Samson, who moved from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings, while CSK traded Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran to Rajasthan Royals. India’s pace spearhead Mohammed Shami also switched to Lucknow Super Giants.

Among all franchises, Punjab Kings retained the most players (21), while Kolkata Knight Riders retained the fewest (12). KKR will also enter the mini-auction with the largest purse — Rs 64.3 crore, followed by CSK with Rs 43.4 crore.
