The 17.799 km long double line between Sagadapata & Tangiriapal of Jaroli-Jakhapura super critical doubling project has been opened for train movement from March 3, 2023 after getting clearance from Commissioner Railway Safety (CRS).
CRS has approved the Railway Section after inspecting all safety angles for smooth train operations.
After commissioning of this super critical rail project, it will enable better capacity to the existing traffic facility for carriage of goods (mostly iron and manganese ore) as well as passenger traffic.
Transportation of iron and coals to the nearest ports like Dhamara, Paradeep and Visakhapatnam will be easier by ECoR apart from running of passenger trains. This line connects iron and manganese rich areas under Keonjhar district to the nearest ports as well as many steel plants.
The sanctioned cost of the project is now Rs 1,826 crore. Out of 180 km, 124 km has already been completed by February 2023.
