Delhi Police busts illegal call centres duping foreign nationals

New Delhi: Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit of Delhi Police on Thursday uncovered two illegal call centres in Dwarka and Naraina area of the national capital, arresting 26 employees and detaining 40 individuals.

The first case in Naraina led to the arrest of 23 people, including owners, and the recovery of cash amounting to Rs 23.5 lakh, along with laptops, phones and routers.

According to media reports, the accused used sophisticated software to impersonate customer care and tech staff of companies like Amazon and Paypal.

In the second case in Dwarka, three individuals were arrested for running a similar fake call centre, targeting US citizens with false technical support services. Investigations are ongoing in both cases, police said.
