The low pressure area over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining south Andaman Sea has now become a well-marked low pressure area on Tuesday morning, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has informed.

It also said that the low pressure area will very likely intensify into a depression by Tuesday evening over the same region and turn into a cyclonic storm (Cyclone Mocha) over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of east central Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea on May 10.

“It is likely to move initially N-northwestwards till 12th May morning. Thereafter, to recurve gradually and move N-northeastwards towards Bangladesh-Myanmar coasts,” the IMD said.
