Bhubaneswar: Odisha continued to experience cold wave conditions on Sunday as mercury dropped in many districts of the state.

Due to northwesterly dry and cold winds, at least 16 weather stations logged a minimum temperature below 10 degree Celsius.

Similiguda in Koraput district with 5.3 degrees Celsius was the coldest place in the state, the Bhubaneswar Meteorological Centre has informed.

Kandhamal district too was under the grip of intense cold as the district headquarter town of Phulbani recorded 6 degrees Celsius and Daringbadi was 7 degrees.

The mercury too dropped significantly in Keonjhar and Jharsuguda, with cold wave conditions also prevailing over Bhawanipatna and Kalahandi districts.

Meanwhile, the capital city of Bhubaneswar recorded 11.2 degrees Celsius, 4.9 degrees below normal. In Cuttack, it was 3.6 degrees below normal at 11.6 degrees, the weatherman said.

According to the Met department, cold wave would prevail in Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Bargarh, Nuapada, Bolangir and Subarnapur districts till Monday.
