Greater Noida: Vaibhav Singhal, a 16-year-old allegedly murdered by friends over a personal dispute, had his body recovered on Sunday here after an intensive 11-day search. The accused, Maaz Pathan, 19, and a juvenile accomplice, had dumped the body in the Khareli canal near Hinauti village.

The body, found 12 km from the dumping site, followed continuous efforts and a confession from the accused. Both perpetrators were arrested after a gunfight on February 7, with Pathan sustaining a gunshot injury in his leg.

“After the January 30 incident, continuous efforts were made to find the body of the boy. The accused had confessed to killing him and dumping the body in the canal,” stated a police spokesperson.

According to PTI, the incident triggered outrage in Bilaspur town, leading residents to protest at the local Dankaur police station. Community support and demands for justice were echoed by local traders who closed their shops for multiple days.
