Bengaluru: In a move aimed at improving commuter safety, the Bengaluru City Police have partnered with cab aggregators Uber and Ola to roll out a technology-based integration that strengthens emergency response for both riders and drivers.

Under the initiative, emergency call features have now been embedded directly into the Uber and Ola mobile applications. This allows users to seek help without leaving the app during a ride.

When an emergency is triggered, riders or drivers can instantly share real-time location details, trip information and contact data with the city police’s 112 emergency response system. According to an official statement, this direct flow of information enables the police to access critical details quickly, helping them respond faster to distress situations.

The police said the integration is expected to significantly cut response times and support timely intervention by first responders. The collaboration is being seen as a key step in using technology partnerships to make urban transport safer and improve overall public safety in the city.
