Vaishnaw introduces financial upgradation scheme for Gramin Dak Sevaks
New Delhi: In a move aimed at enhancing service conditions and addressing stagnation concerns, union minister of Communications, Railways, and Electronics & Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, introduced a financial upgradation scheme for over 2.56 lakh Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs) employed in the Department of Posts.
The Gramin Dak Sevaks are pivotal in the Department of Posts’ operations, particularly in rural areas, where they play a crucial role in providing postal and financial services to even the remotest corners of the nation.
The key features of the Gramin Dak Sevaks (Grant of Financial Upgradation) Scheme, 2024 include:
Each Gramin Dak Sevak will receive three financial upgradations upon completing 12, 24, and 36 years of service, entailing annual amounts of Rs 4,320, Rs 5,520, and Rs 7,200 respectively.
This scheme is implemented in addition to the remuneration provided to GDSs in the form of ‘Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA)’.
This initiative is expected to significantly enhance the service conditions of GDSs, benefiting more than 2.56 lakh individuals and mitigating stagnation issues in their service tenure.
