New Delhi: A 39-year-old man died after he jumped in front of a train at Udyog Bhawan Metro Station on Delhi Metro’s Yellow Line.

The incident caused a 35-minute delay in services on the corridor, a senior DMRC official said.

According to Delhi Police ther man could have taken the extreme step after his cancer diagnosis. However, no suicide note was found. The incident was captured on CCTV around 11:30 am at platform No. 2.

The deceased, a former painter from Delhi’s Mukundpur area, had stopped working due to his deteriorating health. His wife informed the police about his ongoing medical treatment and recent surgery at a leading hospital.

The body was shifted to RML hospital, with inquest proceedings initiated under section 174 of the CrPC (unnatural death). The Yellow Line connects Gurugram’s Millenium City Center to Delhi’s Samaypur Badli.

The DMRC, in a statement, confirmed the incident and subsequent measures taken, assuring the retrieval of the passenger and necessary medical attention. Normal train movement was restored by 12:04 pm after a brief regulation of services.
