Speeding luxury car runs over pedestrians in Jaipur, one killed and 15 injured
Jaipur: One person died and at least 15 others were injured after a speeding luxury car rammed into pedestrians near Kharabas Circle in Jaipur’s Patrakar Colony area on Friday night, police officials said.
According to the police, the car first struck a road divider and then went out of control, crashing into roadside shops and food carts over a stretch of nearly 30 metres. Several parked vehicles were also damaged, creating chaos and panic in the area.
The vehicle was reportedly carrying four people, who were allegedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. One of the occupants has been detained, while the others managed to flee from the spot. The car has been seized for further investigation.
All the injured were initially taken to Jaipuria Hospital, where eight people were admitted for treatment. Others were either shifted to private hospitals or taken home by family members. Four critically injured victims were later referred to Sawai Man Singh (SMS) Hospital.
One of the injured, identified as Ramesh Bairwa from Bhilwara, succumbed to his injuries during treatment, police added.
Chief minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed deep sorrow over the death and instructed officials to ensure proper medical care for all the injured.
