OCA inter-district school tournament: Samarjeet’s 189 headlines Bhubaneswar-A’s 400 total

Cuttack/Bhubaneswar: A series of emphatic results marked day three of the OCA Inter District School Cricket Tournament 2025–26, with several one-sided contests and standout individual performances across venues on Friday.

At the DRIEMS Cricket Ground, Bhubaneswar-A produced a batting masterclass to overwhelm Kandhamal. After opting to bat, Bhubaneswar-A piled up a massive 400 for 7 in 49 overs, riding on a sensational 189 off 131 balls from Samarjeet Sahoo, well supported by Bhubanesh Samal’s 48. Kandhamal’s bowlers struggled to contain the onslaught, with Atulan Bishwas and Trilochan Bindhani picking up a wicket apiece. In reply, Kandhamal folded for 107 in 25.2 overs despite Subhranshu Das scoring 21, as Md Shahzaib Alam ran through the line-up with figures of 5 for 18. Bhubaneswar-A sealed a commanding 293-run victory.

At the Bidanasi Ground, Ganjam registered a four-wicket win over Nuapada in a relatively low-scoring encounter. Nuapada, batting first, were bowled out for 143 in 37.4 overs, with Muhammad M Raza top-scoring with a patient 54 off 114 balls. A Lalit K Patro starred with the ball for Ganjam, returning figures of 3 for 19. Chasing the target, Ganjam reached 147 for 6 in 32.3 overs, with Bikash Behera (32) and Ariyan Das (31) guiding the chase to secure victory.

A dramatic collapse unfolded at the Mula Padia Ground, where Sundargarh dominated Paradip. Sundargarh were bowled out for 176 in 38.5 overs after contributions from Nivish Adhikari (49) and Rehan Khan (30). However, Paradip’s reply was disastrous as they were skittled for just 29 in 17.5 overs. Kush Yadav delivered a spell to remember, claiming 5 for 3 in just 2.5 overs, as Sundargarh romped home by 147 runs.

At the BJB School Ground in Khordha, Cuttack-B made short work of Boudh. Boudh were bundled out for 82 in 26.4 overs, with Kishor Nayak scoring 39. Ayush Rout was the pick of the bowlers, registering exceptional figures of 6 for 10. Cuttack-B chased down the target comfortably, reaching 84 for 2 in 16.1 overs to win by eight wickets.

Sunshine Cricket Ground witnessed Kendrapara cruise to a seven-wicket win over Nabarangpur. Nabarangpur managed 105 all out in 37.4 overs, with Vivek Banua scoring 21. Kendrapara’s bowlers shared the spoils, led by Swapnil Rana and Om Prakash Jena with three wickets each. In reply, Kendrapara reached 106 for 5 in 24.4 overs, with Swapnil Rana also contributing 24 with the bat to cap a fine all-round display.

The most dominant batting effort of the day came at Ravenshaw II Ground, where Jajpur crushed Nayagarh by 289 runs. Jajpur amassed a mammoth 369 for 5 in 50 overs after electing to bat, powered by an unbeaten 117 off 79 balls from Ehan Khan and a brisk 58 from Judhajeet Swain. Nayagarh’s chase never took off as they were bowled out for 80 in 25.2 overs, with Sk Salik Mohammad wreaking havoc by claiming 6 for 18.
