After weeks of search, two missing Bhagalpur girls rescued in Mumbai
Bhagalpur: Two girls who had gone missing from Bihar’s Bhagalpur district were found and rescued in Mumbai on Saturday after weeks of searching, police said.
The girls had disappeared from the Babarganj police station area. A case was registered on January 8, and police immediately began an investigation.
Senior superintendent of police Anand Kumar said a Special Investigation Team was formed under the supervision of the City SP to trace the girls. Officers went through CCTV footage from different parts of Bhagalpur, nearby railway stations and other locations. Their efforts eventually led them to the Dongri area of Mumbai.
A police team, along with the girls’ parents, will travel to Mumbai. With the help of the local child welfare team, both girls were rescued safely, the SSP said.
He added that the case was treated as sensitive, especially as there were concerns about possible child trafficking.
Once the girls return, their statements will be recorded before a magistrate. Further legal steps will be taken to understand the reasons and circumstances behind their disappearance.
