BAPS Mumbai holds ‘Healing the Healers’ symposium to promote emotional and spiritual well-being of medical professionals
Mumbai: Highlighting the growing need for emotional support within the healthcare sector, the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir here organised a medico-spiritual symposium titled ‘Healing the Healers’, aimed at strengthening the emotional, psychological and spiritual well-being of doctors and medical staff.
Senior doctors from leading super-speciality hospitals across the city participated in the event, which focused on addressing the rising stress, long working hours and emotional demands faced by the medical fraternity.
The programme began with darshan, abhishek rituals and Vedic prayers, followed by an introductory film on BAPS spiritual leader Mahant Swami Maharaj. Organisers said the symposium was designed to help medical professionals cope with challenging work environments, growing patient expectations and burnout by equipping them with practical spiritual and psychological tools.
Several distinguished experts shared insights on mental resilience and the importance of spiritual grounding.
Padma Bhushan awardee and noted cardiologist Dr Ashwin Mehta spoke about the emotional burdens doctors often carry silently and stressed the need for inner peace and mental clarity during high-pressure situations.
Veteran cardiac surgeon and medical academic Dr Sudhanshu Bhattacharya highlighted the intense psychological load surgeons face, adding that spiritual discipline can help restore composure and improve decision-making in critical moments.
Senior ENT specialist Dr Kanti Patel underscored the relevance of mindfulness, compassion and self-care for sustaining long-term excellence in patient care.
Offering a spiritual perspective, senior BAPS sadhu and global motivational speaker Gnanvatsal Swami delivered guidance on cultivating emotional balance, mental stability and inner strength, a message attendees described as both timely and transformative.
The symposium marks BAPS’s continued commitment to supporting healthcare professionals by creating spaces that encourage inner rejuvenation, resilience and holistic well-being.
