Man held for mowing down roadside food stall owner near Delhi’s Moti Nagar flyover
New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for allegedly running over and killing a 54-year-old roadside eatery operator near the Moti Nagar flyover in west Delhi on Tuesday morning.
The victim, identified as Ramkaran, was found dead near a banquet hall on Najafgarh Road with visible injuries to his abdomen and forehead. Police received a PCR call around 7.15 am about the body lying on the footpath.
A senior police officer said the area was immediately cordoned off and both crime and forensic teams examined the site. The victim’s belongings were found scattered nearby and his body was later sent to Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) Hospital for post-mortem.
During the investigation, police analysed CCTV footage from the area and spotted a white Dzire car with front-end damage, suspected to be involved in the hit-and-run. After technical tracking and sustained questioning, the driver — Mohit Yadav (25), a resident of Guhori, Sector-53, Noida — was arrested.
Police have registered a case and are verifying more CCTV evidence to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to Ramkaran’s death. Further investigation is underway.
