Mumbai Metro Line-3 carries over 38 lakh passengers in October
Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro Line-3, also called the Aqua Line, witnessed strong commuter growth in October, with over 38 lakh passengers using the city’s first underground metro corridor, the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) said on Sunday.
Stretching 33.5 km from Cuffe Parade in South Mumbai to Aarey JVLR in the western suburbs, the line recorded a total footfall of 38.63 lakh passengers last month. Since its full inauguration by prime minister Narendra Modi on October 9, more than 33 lakh commuters have used the service in just 22 days.
According to MMRC, the Aqua Line’s average weekday ridership has reached around 1.41 lakh, with the highest single-day count touching 1.82 lakh since operations began. The metro route connects key business and transit points such as Bandra-Kurla Complex, CSMT and Churchgate, featuring 27 stations-most of them underground except Aarey JVLR.
To enhance convenience, MMRC has introduced WhatsApp ticketing through +91 98730 16836 and QR code options at all stations, enabling commuters to purchase tickets seamlessly without paper.
