Bengaluru: A 24-year-old man was killed and his friend seriously injured after a couple allegedly rammed their car into a motorcycle in a suspected case of road rage in Bengaluru. Police have arrested the couple following the incident that occurred on October 25 in Srirama Layout near Puttenahalli, under Puttenahalli police limits.

The deceased was identified as Dharshan N, a gig worker, while his friend G. Varun (24) sustained severe injuries and is undergoing treatment. The accused have been named as Manoj Kumar, a Kalaripayattu martial arts instructor and his wife **Arti Sharma.

According to DCP (South) Lokesh Jagalasar, the case initially appeared to be a road accident and was registered as an accidental death by JP Nagar Traffic Police. However, CCTV footage later revealed that the car had deliberately hit the bike from behind.

Investigations found that moments before the crash, the bikers had allegedly broken the car’s side mirror following a minor altercation and drove away. Enraged, Manoj reportedly took a U-turn, chased the bike for nearly two kilometres and intentionally rammed into it, killing Dharshan on the spot and injuring Varun.

Police said the accused later returned to the scene wearing masks to collect broken car parts, attempting to destroy evidence. Based on these findings, the Puttenahalli Police registered a case of murder and evidence tampering under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).

Both Manoj and Arti have been arrested and produced before court. The CCTV video of the incident has gone viral on social media, sparking outrage and highlighting growing concerns over road rage cases in Bengaluru.

Police confirmed that further investigation into the incident is underway.
