New Delhi: The Delhi Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of Christmas, outlining preparations for crowd management and smooth traffic flow during the festive season. Special arrangements will be in place at key locations, including churches, malls and popular markets.

The police have confirmed that additional patrols and traffic personnel will be deployed to manage the anticipated crowds. A drive against drunken driving will also be conducted and continue through New Year’s celebrations.

Authorities expect large gatherings at prominent churches such as Sacred Heart Cathedral (Gol Dak Khana), St. Thomas Church (Mandir Marg), St. Martin’s Church (Delhi Cantonment), St. Thomas Church (R K Puram), and St. Mary’s Knanaya Church (Vasant Kunj). Traffic diversions will be implemented as required to manage these gatherings.

Select City Mall in Saket is likely to witness heavy footfall, and traffic diversions will commence at 2 pm on Wednesday. Median cuts along the Sheikh Sarai to Hauz Rani stretch will remain closed, and heavy vehicles and buses will be prohibited on Press Enclave Road.

To minimise inconvenience, alternate routes have been recommended. Commuters travelling from Chirag Delhi to Qutub Minar via Press Enclave Road are advised to use Khanpur Red Light T-Point via MB Road to reach Mehrauli. Those travelling from IIT Flyover to PTS towards Press Enclave Road should continue on Aurobindo Marg towards Mehrauli and use TB Hospital Road Red Light to Lado Sarai via MB Road.

Public transport buses will not be allowed from MB Road/Asian Market Red Light to Pushp Vihar.

Although last year saw lower attendance at Sacred Heart Cathedral, adequate police personnel will be deployed in the area to ensure smooth traffic movement and public safety during the celebrations.
