Berhampur: Housing & Urban Development department organised a cluster review meeting of ULBs of Ganjam, Rayagada, Boudh, Gajapati and Kandhamal districts at KMCG Auditorium here on Wednesday.

Principal secretary, H&UD dept, G Mathi Vathanan chaired the meeting. Around 450 participants including PD, DUDA, addl. commissioners, executive officers, engineers and professionals of all the local bodies of the five districts attended.

Vision for coming years was presented and performance of ULBs reviewed. The principal secretary in his address focused on Urban initiative vision 2023-24 and highlighted different programme such as Jalasathi, MUKTA, work office, solid and liquid waste management, FSSM, Jaga Mission, Drink from Tap, GARIMA, fund management, water body rejuvenation etc that are being implemented by the government.

During the presentation he said urbanisation is the engine of growth and directed to functionalise the work office by December this year.

Community participation plays a key role and it has been recognised globally. He also directed to ensure that all payments to MSG to be done by the 7th of every month.

Sangramjeet Nayak, director municipal administration set the context of the programme. While sharing the prospect of urban transformation. Divya Jyoti Parida, Ganjam collector, Ashish Iswar Patil, Kandhamal collector, Sarada Prasad Panda, Jt secretary-cum-director SUDA spoke. Nilamadhab Bhoi, PD DUDA gave the vote of thanks.
