Bhubaneswar: Physical classes for all educational institutions resumed in Odisha on Monday, almost a month after remaining closed due to the third wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

Following Covid-19 protocols, students of class 7 and above, colleges, ITIs, professional institutions and universities started physical classes on Monday.

Also, hostels in colleges and universities reopened a day before Sunday while schools for students of class 1 to 6, will start from February 14.

The decision to open educational institutions were taken after a decline in daily Covid positive cases in the state.

Apart from the offline mode, students can also opt for online mode of teaching.

As per the government order, class timings for class 8 to 12 under the School and Mass Education Department is 10 am to 4 pm, while for students of class 1 to 7, it will be 9 am to 1 am.

The central government had earlier suggested states to reopen schools and educational institutions in districts where the positivity rate is less than five per cent.

On Monday, Odisha reported 1,497 new Covid positive cases with the daily positivity rate dropping to 3.18 per cent.
