Cuttack: Jharsuguda pulled off a tense three-wicket win over Ganjam in a match of the Kalahandi Cup 2026 at Ravenshaw Ground-1 on Saturday, successfully chasing down 219 in a closely fought contest.

After winning the toss, Ganjam chose to bat and posted a competitive 218 for 8 in 50 overs. B Santosh Kumar Patra anchored the innings with a patient 84 off 133 balls, holding one end together while wickets fell around him. K Iswar Prasad added useful support with a steady 52 off 65 deliveries. Just when Ganjam looked set for a bigger total, Aryan N Tiwari turned the game on its head with a brilliant spell, claiming 5 for 47 and keeping the scoring in check during the middle and death overs.

Chasing 219, Jharsuguda showed composure despite a few hiccups along the way. Aarnav H Mhambrey led the charge with a well-crafted 79 off 97 balls, setting the platform for the chase. Sachin K Shrestha chipped in with a crucial 59 off 78 deliveries as the pair ensured the required rate never spiralled out of control.

Ganjam’s bowlers tried to claw their way back into the match, with Rohit Sagar returning figures of 2 for 33 and Kalia Sahu picking up 2 for 46. However, Jharsuguda held their nerve in the closing stages and reached 220 for 7 in 47.1 overs to seal victory.
