Kalahandi Cup 2026: Nayagarh edge Kendrapara by two wickets as Biswajeet smashes ton in thriller
The Day 4 of the Kalahandi Cup 2026 (1st Phase Preliminary League) delivered several commanding wins, but the standout contest came at BJB School Ground, Khordha, where Nayagarh pulled off a thrilling two-wicket victory over Kendrapara.
Nayagarh vs Kendrapara – Match of the day
After winning the toss, Kendrapara opted to bat and posted a competitive 203/8 in 43 overs. Gourav Choudhary led the scoring with 56 off 53 balls, while Risikanta Mansigh picked up 2 for 28 for Nayagarh.
In reply, Nayagarh chased down the target in 35.1 overs, finishing at 204/8. The star of the match was Biswajeet Pradhan, who played a magnificent knock of 126 off 93 balls to anchor the chase. Despite picking up two wickets for 24 runs, Soumitra K Biswal could not prevent Nayagarh from sealing a narrow win.
Sundargarh dominate Nabarangpur
At Centurion University Ground, Sundargarh cruised to an eight-wicket win over Nabarangpur.
Nabarangpur were bundled out for just 68 in 25.4 overs. Dilip Bisoi scored 19, but Krishna Palai’s brilliant spell of 6 for 24, supported by Abhishek Singh’s 3 for 17, dismantled the batting line-up.
Sundargarh comfortably chased the target, reaching 72/2 in 12.1 overs. Umesh K Goutam contributed 20 off 23 balls.
Sambalpur-B ease past Dhenkanal
At Nimpur Ground, Dhenkanal were bowled out for 128 in 28.2 overs, with Chetan K Panda scoring 30. Sayed Zaki starred with 4 for 17, while Prashant Thakkar took 3 for 54.
Sambalpur-B chased the target smoothly, finishing at 132/1 in 19.5 overs. Rushi Mehera remained unbeaten on 51 off 64 balls as his team secured a nine-wicket victory.
ECORSA hold nerve against Sonepur
At DRIEMS Ground, ECORSA posted 229 in 40.1 overs, powered by Sameer R Mohanty’s 65 off 79 balls. Shubham Bisht claimed 3 for 42.
Sonepur responded strongly but were bowled out for 208 in 45 overs. Shubham Bisht top-scored with 82 off 69 balls, while Jayanta K Behera picked up 4 for 49 to help ECORSA clinch a 21-run win.
Khordha defend 250 against Sambalpur-A
At Railway Ground, Jatni, Khordha scored 250/9 in 49 overs, thanks to Biswabhusan Bihari’s superb 118 off 119 balls. Abhinab Nanda took 3 for 44.
Sambalpur-A fought hard in reply, reaching 238/6 in 49 overs. Debasish Bagh scored 102 off 109 balls and Shresth Singh added 73 off 121, but Khordha held on to win by 12 runs.
Balangir beat Cuttack-B by 80 runs
At Sunshine Ground, Balangir were bowled out for 225 in 50 overs. Sailesh Patnaik top-scored with 68 off 89 balls, while Jamala B Mohapatra (4/32) and Binayak P Shaw (3/27) impressed with the ball.
Cuttack-B managed 145 in 43.4 overs despite knocks of 34 each from Ankeet K Behera and Aditya R Ray. Anshuman Mishra took 4 for 31 and Omkar Mohanty 3 for 21 as Balangir won by 80 runs.
Jajpur clinch one-run thriller over Malkangiri
At Adaspur Ground, Jajpur scored 209 in 39.4 overs, with Sayed Izharuddin making 66 off 76 balls. Sana Shreyas took 4 for 48 and Dinesh Halba 3 for 55.
In a tense chase, Malkangiri were bowled out for 208 in 47 overs. Dinesh Halba scored 70 off 72 balls, but Jajpur edged the contest by just one run. Papu Ray returned figures of 2 for 20.
Koraput secure 41-run win over Deogarh
At Ravenshaw Ground-2, Koraput made 216 in 47.4 overs, led by Arasada Kishore’s 54 off 78 balls. Mridul Pandey took 3 for 18.
Deogarh were dismissed for 175 in 37.3 overs despite Sonu Samanta’s 54 off 58 balls. Arasada Kiran delivered a match-winning spell of 7 for 26, supported by Chinmay Panda’s 3 for 48, as Koraput won by 41 runs.
