CK Nayudu Trophy: All-round Bengal beat Odisha by 102 runs
Bargarh: Bengal defeated Odisha by 102 runs in their Col CK Nayudu Trophy U23 match at Vikas Ground, here on Monday, sealing the contest on Day 4 after a strong all-round performance.
Resuming the final day’s action, Odisha were bowled out for 191 in 56.2 overs in their second innings while chasing Bengal’s target of 293. Shreyansh Bhardwaj scored 40 off 66 balls, hitting four boundaries and a six, while Sambit Beja added 31 off 59 balls. However, the rest of the batting line-up failed to convert starts.
Irshad Alam was the chief destroyer for Bengal, by claiming second five-wicket haul in the match by conceding 71 runs in 25 overs. Rohit also picked up five wickets, conceding 61 runs in 14.2 overs, as Bengal wrapped up the innings to secure victory.
Earlier, Bengal had posted 271 for 9 declared in 51 overs in their second innings. Ayush Kumar Singh led the charge with a commanding 129 off 156 balls, which included nine fours and four sixes. Prabhat Maurya contributed 38 runs. For Odisha, Om T Munde returned impressive figures of 5 for 25, while Sambit S. Baral took 3 for 53.
On Day 3, Bengal made 153 for 3 in 32.5 overs in their second innings before building further on the final day. Ayush Kumar Singh remained unbeaten on 88 off 113 balls, striking six fours and three sixes. Prabhat Maurya added 38. Sambit S. Baral picked up 2 wickets for 23 runs, while Om T Munde chipped in with one wicket.
Earlier, Odisha were bowled out for 321 in their first innings. Sujal K Singh top-scored with 65 off 87 balls, and Shreyansh Bhardwaj made 49 off 107 deliveries. Irshad Alam starred with the ball for Bengal, taking 5 for 97 in 45.1 overs, while Ravi Kumar supported him with 4 for 62.
At stumps on Day 3, Bengal had taken a 157-run lead.
Day 2
Bengal had posted 343 in their first innings. Ayush Kumar Singh scored a brilliant 107 off 148 balls, hitting 15 fours, while Anas added 68 off 124 deliveries. For Odisha, Badal Biswal picked up 6 wickets for 93 runs in 36 overs, and Saideep Mohapatra claimed 2 for 50 in 20 overs.
In reply, Odisha were 219 for 4 in 71 overs at the end of Day 2, trailing by 124 runs.
Day 1
Bengal won the toss and elected to bat, finishing Day 1 at 301 for 6 in 90 overs. Ayush Kumar Singh scored 107 and Anas contributed 68 to put Bengal in a strong position at the end of the opening day.
