Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy 2025–26: Odisha beat Assam by four wickets
Thiruvananthapuram: A composed all-round effort helped Odisha register a four-wicket win over Assam in their Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy Elite encounter at St Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground here on Monday.
Opting to bat after winning the toss, Assam posted a competitive 211 for 3 in 50 overs, built around a superb unbeaten century by Sneha Sinha. She anchored the Assam batting with a patient 107 not out off 147 balls, hitting 16 fours. She found solid support from Dolly Kardong, who scored 64 off 122 deliveries as the duo stitched together a crucial partnership to steady the innings.
Odisha’s bowlers kept things tight, with Ananya P Rout delivering an impressive spell of 10 overs, conceding just 16 runs and picking up one wicket, while Swatika Behera chipped in with a wicket despite going at over four runs an over.
In reply, Odisha chased down the target comfortably, reaching 214 for 6 in 43.1 overs. Bijaya L Behera played a match-winning knock, who remained unbeaten on 99 off 99 balls, and her knock was studded with 13 boundaries and a six. She anchored the chase really well for Odisha.
Ananya P Rout, after her tidy bowling effort, made a valuable contribution with the bat, scoring 52 off 77 balls to keep Odisha on course. Assam bowler Rupsika Teronpi was the standout with the ball, returning excellent figures of 3 for 11 from her 10 overs, while Sneha Sinha also claimed a wicket.
Despite Assam’s disciplined bowling spells, Odisha’s batters paced the chase well to seal the contest with nearly seven overs to spare, clinching a four-wicket victory and gaining valuable points in the Elite group stage.
