What steps are in place to help spectators reach Kartavya Path on Republic Day?
New Delhi: Authorities have put in place a range of facilitation steps to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience for spectators attending the Republic Day parade at Kartavya Path, officials said on Sunday.
To help people reach the venue without confusion, public transport users will receive guidance during their journey, while those arriving by private vehicles will be directed to designated parking areas near their allotted seating enclosures.
Officials said all seating enclosures for this year’s parade have been named after rivers, making it easier for spectators to identify their locations. Based on whether an enclosure is on the northern or southern side of Kartavya Path, commuters will be guided to the appropriate metro stations.
Spectators seated on the southern side, in enclosures named Beas, Brahmaputra, Chambal, Chenab, Gandak, Ganga, Ghagra, Godavari, Sindhu and Jhelum, will be directed to disembark at Udyog Bhawan Metro Station. Those with seats on the northern side, including enclosures named Kaveri, Kosi, Krishna, Mahanadi, Narmada, Pennar, Periyar, Ravi, Son, Satluj, Teesta, Vaigai and Yamuna, have been advised to use the Central Secretariat Metro Station.

Officials said pedestrian pathways have also been aligned with the river-named enclosures to ensure smoother movement and reduce crowding on the day of the parade.
For spectators arriving by car, a digital parking management system has been introduced to guide vehicles to suitable parking areas. The arrangement covers 22 designated parking lots and can accommodate around 8,000 vehicles. Parking pass holders will be able to access directions to the parking lots closest to their seating areas, from where they can walk to the venue.
A senior official said nearly 77,000 passes are issued every year for the Republic Day parade, with about 8,000 allocated to spectators travelling by private vehicles.
Authorities have advised people to use public transport wherever possible and follow official announcements and signage to ensure smooth entry and exit during the celebrations.
