Odisha cricketer Abhishek Santosh Kumar Raut retires from all formats
Cuttack: Senior Odisha men’s cricketer Abhishek Santosh Kumar Raut has announced his retirement from all formats of cricket with immediate effect, the Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) said on Friday.
A right-handed batsman and right-arm leg-break bowler, Raut enjoyed a long and successful career in Indian domestic cricket spanning nearly two decades. Over the years, he represented teams such as Maharashtra, Mumbai and Goa before playing for Odisha for several seasons, where he made valuable contributions with both bat and ball.
Raut also featured in the Indian Premier League, turning out for Rajasthan Royals and making his IPL debut during the 2009 season.
In first-class cricket, he played 26 matches, scoring 1,131 runs at an average of 30.56, including a highest score of 116 not out, while also picking up 24 wickets. In List A cricket, he appeared in 47 matches, amassing 913 runs at an average of 29.45 with four half-centuries and claiming 35 wickets, including a best of 5 for 36. His T20 career comprised 66 matches, in which he scored 721 runs and took 26 wickets.
