Bhubaneswar: The ICICI Foundation has gifted seven dialysis machines to the Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, faculty of medicine of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) here, recently to strengthen the hospital’s efforts to extend healthcare to the masses.

Senior officials representing ICICI Foundation handed over the equipment to the hospital in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Manojranjan Nayak, founder president of SOA, at a function.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Nayak praised ICICI Bank and ICICI Foundation for their efforts to improve healthcare stating they had also extended
assistance to IMS and SUM Hospital when it was fighting the battle against Covid-19.

Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinhar, medical superintendent of the hospital, said around 1,600 patients under treatment in the Nephrology department
required dialysis support of whom more than 1,000 patients were covered under the state government’s Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY).

The new dialysis machines would go a long way to cater to the growing needs, he said. Prof. (Dr.) Biswaranjan Mohanty, head of the department of Nephrology, said the hospital conducted dialysis for around 80 patients daily.

Those present on the occasion included Pradosh Kumar Rout, business head of ICICI Bank, Sanjukta Mohapatra, Odisha Centre head of ICICI Foundation, Prof. (Dr.) Sanghamitra Mishra, dean of IMS and SUM Hospital, Sarojkanta Samal, SOA’s chartered accountant, Prahllad Mohanty, officer on
special duty, IMS and SUM Hospital, Dr. Debaprasad Kar, Dr. Biswajit Mishra and Dr. Amrita Deo, associate professors in the Nephrology department, Deba Prasad Dash, director, corporate communication of SOA, Pushpanjali Rout, deputy general manager (Operation), IMS and SUM Hospital, Manorama Parida, bio-medical engineer, Saroj Senapati, Soumya Ranjan Muduli and Tamanna Rath, all Junior Hospital administrators.
