East Coast Railway (ECoR) observed the 74th Republic Day at Railway Stadium, Bhubaneswar where Manoj Sharma, general manager unfurled the National Flag and inspected the parade organised by Railway Protection Force (RPF).

While speaking on the occasion the general manager said that ECoR has loaded freight of 179.65 MT upto Dec’ 2022 which is highest among all zones as against 170.77 MT during the corresponding period of last year. Revenue earned upto Dec’ 22 is 16453 crore which is 13.91 per cent more than the last year for the corresponding period.

He informed that the prime minister laid the foundation stone for redevelopment of Vishakhapatnam Railway station with a total investment of Rs 456 crore for which tenders have already been issued.

he added that the PM flagged off 8th Vande Bharat Express between Vishakhapatnam -Secunderabad on January 15, 2023.

He further said that a 14 km long Angul-Balaram New Railway Line was inaugurated on December 29, 2022 which will facilitate in faster coal evacuation in Talcher Area.

Foundation stone for Bhubaneswar Railway Station with world–class infrastructure was laid on December 29, 2022. First Aluminium Freight Rake of Indian Railways was inaugurated by Union Minister of Railways at Bhubaneswar Railway Station on October 16, 2022.

ECoR has also commissioned record infrastructure works in the financial year which has enhanced the capacity of Railways and it will serve in better port connectivity to mineral rich areas.

All the principal heads of the departments of ECoR, senior officials and staff and Divya Sharma president of East Coast Railway Women’s Welfare Organisation (ECoRWWO) were present during the occasion. Ashoka Kumar Mishra, deputy general manager, co-ordinated the programme.
