DU law student stabbed to death in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar, two arrested
New Delhi: A 27-year-old law student from Delhi University was allegedly stabbed to death after a dispute with relatives in south Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Friday morning, police said.
The incident took place around 11.30 am, when police received a PCR call reporting a violent altercation. Responding officers found the victim, identified as Md Irshad, with severe stab wounds. He was immediately taken to Majidia Maqbool Memorial Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, a senior officer said.
Irshad, a first-year LLB student at the Campus Law Centre, had sustained multiple stab injuries, according to officials.
Police said the victim’s sister, who witnessed the attack, accused their uncle Mubarak, 50, his wife Rihana Khatoon, 47, their son Ishtiyaq, 26, and a 15-year-old minor of carrying out the assault. All the accused live in the same neighbourhood, officers added.
A preliminary probe supported by CCTV footage showed that an argument had broken out earlier between Irshad and the accused family members. Police said the dispute, reportedly over a minor issue related to cleaning the surrounding area, escalated into a fatal confrontation.
Two of the accused have been taken into custody, while further investigation is underway.
