Preliminary investigation suggests that the stabbing may have taken place following a dispute, though the exact sequence of events is still unclear, a senior police officer said. Statements of people present in the area are being recorded to understand the circumstances leading to the attack.

A case has been registered at the Welcome police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The crime team and forensic experts inspected the scene and collected evidence, including blood samples and other material clues.

Police said multiple teams have been formed to identify and arrest the accused. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being examined to trace the suspects’ movements before and after the incident.

Officials are also probing whether the victims and the attackers were known to each other and if there was any previous rivalry or enmity, police added.
