Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy: Rajasthan beat Odisha by 114 runs
Thiruvananthapuram: Rajasthan produced a dominant allround performance to register a convincing 114-run win over Odisha in a Women’s Under-19 One Day Trophy Elite match at St Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground, here on Wednesday.
After winning the toss, Rajasthan opted to bat first and posted a competitive 213 all out in 46.2 overs. Vrinda Sharma anchored the innings with a patient knock of 70 runs off 107 balls, striking 10 fours. She found useful support from Tanika Sharma, who played a brisk innings of 33 off 32 deliveries, including four boundaries and a six.
Odisha bowlers fought back in patches, with Bijaya L Behera emerging as the standout performer. She claimed five wickets for 42 runs in 9.2 overs to restrict Rajasthan from batting through the full quota. MS Priyadarshini Pramanik also bowled economically, picking up two wickets for 36 runs from her nine overs.
In reply, Odisha’s chase never gathered momentum as wickets fell at regular intervals. The team was bowled out for 99 in 34.3 overs. Anushka Mohanty and Priyankaree Muduli were the top scorers for Odisha, both contributing 15 runs, but the batting lineup failed to build partnerships against Rajasthan’s bowling.
Rajasthan’s bowlers were relentless, led by Maina Siyol, who delivered an outstanding spell of six overs, conceding just nine runs and picking up four wickets. Tanika Sharma chipped in with three wickets for 14 runs from three overs to further dismantle the Odisha batting order.
