Women’s U23 T20 Trophy: Odisha edge Uttarakhand by 3 runs in a last-over thriller
Trivandrum: Odisha held their nerve in a tense finish to beat Uttarakhand by three runs in the Women’s U23 T20 Trophy 2025-26 at St. Xavier’s KCA Cricket Ground, here on Tuesday. Defending a modest total of 110, Odisha produced a brilliant bowling performance to restrict Uttarakhand to 107 for 6.
Put in to bat, Odisha were powered by an explosive knock from GM Alakananda, who smashed 39 off just 17 balls, hammering five fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 229.41. Subhra Nirjharini Swain provided stability with a 27-ball 22, helping Odisha reach 110 for 7 in 20 overs. Uttarakhand’s bowling was led by Sabhy, who returned excellent figures of 2 for 8 from 4 overs, while Neelam picked up 2 for 42.
Chasing 111, Uttarakhand never found momentum with Raghvi scoring a brisk 34 off 20 deliveries with three fours and a six. Jyoti Giri added 22 off 25 balls, but Odisha’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Subhra Nirjharini Swain followed her batting effort with a tight spell of 1 for 13 from 4 overs, while Sreya Priyadarshini delivered the decisive blows, finishing with 2 for 12 in 3 overs.
Odisha held firm as Uttarakhand fell short, closing at 107 for 6, handing Odisha a narrow and hard-fought victory.
