Bengaluru: Gujarat registered a massive 233-run victory over Odisha in their Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 match at the BCCI COE Ground 3, here on Tuesday.

After winning the toss, Odisha opted to field, but Gujarat’s batters made full use of the conditions to post a formidable total of 333 for 6 in 50 overs.

Axar Patel led the charge for Gujarat with a fluent 73 off 60 balls, hitting eight fours and two sixes. Urvil Patel provided strong support, scoring 64 off 49 deliveries with eight boundaries. The Gujarat innings was built on steady partnerships and aggressive stroke play, putting Odisha under pressure throughout.

For Odisha, Biplab Samantray was the standout bowler, picking up two wickets for 33 runs in his four overs, while Govinda Poddar claimed 1 for 44 from his 10 overs.

Chasing a daunting target of 334, Odisha’s batting collapsed as they were bowled out for just 100 runs in 28.1 overs. Biplab Samantray top-scored for Odisha with 22 off 50 balls, while Kartik Biswal added 16 runs.

Gujarat’s bowling attack was clinical, led by C T Gaja, who delivered a match-winning spell of six wickets for 31 runs in 9.1 overs. J K Bhatt supported him well, finishing with 2 for 22 from six overs.

The match also marked a special moment for Odisha as Sayed Tufayl Ahmad made his List-A debut.
