Bhubaneswar: Demonstrating exceptional skills in hotel management, students from the School of Hotel Management (SHM) at Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) clinched significant victories at Odisha Skills 2023-24, the state’s premier skill competition held from March 12 to 15.
The competitions included various hotel management disciplines such as hotel reception, restaurant service, cooking, bakery, patisserie and confectionary.

Saket Kumar Majhi, a 1st-year Bachelor of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (BHMCT) student, showcased remarkable culinary prowess, securing a silver medal in the cooking category. Rizwanul Khan, a 2nd-year BHMCT student, demonstrated outstanding proficiency in restaurant service, earning a well-deserved bronze medal.
The winners, who were felicitated by VK Pandian, chairman, 5T and Naveen Odisha, later called on SOA founder president Prof (Dr) Manojranjan Nayak on Saturday who congratulated them on their success. SOA vice-chancellor Prof Pradipta Kumar Nanda and dean of SHM, Prof Susanta Ranjan Chaini were also present.
