SOA observes national unity day

Bhubaneswar: Employees and students of Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA) Deemed to be University took the pledge to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the country on National Unity Day on Sunday.

The day is celebrated on the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel recalling the leader’s contribution towards the unification of India.

The pledge read “I solemnly pledge that I will dedicate myself to preserve the unity, integrity and security of the nation and also strive hard to spread this message among my fellow countrymen.”

The vice-chancellor of SOA Prof. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra administered the pledge to the assembled employees and students.

Among others, Prof. Pradipta Kumar Nanda, pro-vice chancellor, SOA, Prof. Sudam Chandra Si, dean of School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Prof. Premananda Mohapatra, dean (Post-graduate Studies) and Prof. BIjay Kumar Sahu, dean of Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Prof. Neeta Mohanty, dean, Institute of Dental Sciences, Prof. Manjula Das, controller of examination, Mr. Pramod Kumar Panda, chief administrative officer and Prof. Nachiketa K. Sharma, director, University Outreach Program, were present.

Prof. Pusparaj Samantasinhar, medical superintendent of Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital, SOA’s faculty of medical sciences, administered the pledge to doctors, nurses and other staff members in a separate programme. The pledge taking ceremony was also held in other institutes that comes under the university.
