Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurates new campus of SUM Hospital in Berhampur.

Berhampur: In a significant milestone for healthcare in South Odisha, chief minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the new campus of SUM Hospital, a major initiative by Siksha ‘O’ Anusandhan (SOA), at Sitalapalli.

The newly inaugurated campus at Sitalapalli will initially house 200 beds, with plans to expand to 500 beds in the future. The hospital aims to provide advanced healthcare facilities and cutting-edge technology at affordable costs, offering round-the-clock emergency services.

The event was attended by VK Pandian, chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha, along with Rajya Sabha member Manas Mangaraj. Prof (Dr) Manojranjan Nayak, founder president of SOA, and Saswati Das, vice-president of SOA, were also present at the inauguration ceremony.

The SUM Hospital at Sitalapalli is set to encompass all specialty and super-specialty departments. Renowned healthcare experts, trained both overseas and in reputed medical institutions in the country, will be at the forefront of providing top-notch treatment to the patients.

The chief minister commended SOA’s commitment to healthcare and emphasised the significance of the new campus in improving access to quality medical services in South Odisha.

The inaugural function was also attended by Dr Anand Shankar Sastry, medical superintendent of the new hospital, Prof Pusparaj Samantasinhar, medical superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar and Prof Rajesh Kumar Lenka, medical superintendent of IMS and SUM Hospital in Phulnakhara, among other distinguished guests and staff members.

With four hospitals under its wing, SOA aims to create a collaborative healthcare ecosystem, ensuring seamless delivery of quality healthcare to the people of the region.
