OCA to host 20-team inter club championship after Kalahandi Cup
Cuttack: The Odisha Cricket Association is all set to organise the OCA Inter Club Championship, bringing together 20 affiliated clubs from across the state in what promises to be an exciting competition.
A preparatory meeting was held on Wednesday to discuss key operational and technical aspects to ensure the smooth conduct of the tournament. The meeting was chaired by OCA secretary Sanjay Behera and attended by several senior members and representatives from all participating clubs. The tournament will begin after the completion of the Kalahandi Cup.
The championship will be played in a 50-over format. The 20 teams have been divided into four groups of five teams each. Each team will play four league matches within its group. The top two teams from each group will move on to the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals and the final.
In total, 47 matches will be played during the tournament. This includes 40 league matches, four quarterfinals, two semifinals and the final. A lottery draw was conducted to decide the groupings.
Group A: Union Sporting Club, Shaheed Sporting Club, LIC Sports Club, Jagatpur Athletic Association, Sunrise Club
Group B: Rising Student’s Club, Kishore Club, Barabati Cultural Union, Town Club, OGP Club
Group C: Biswa Bharati Cricket Club, Amateur Cricket Club, Sunshine Club, Rovers Athletic Club, SBI Sports Club
Group D: Juvenile Club, Rising Star Club, Royal Club, Mangala Club, Jay Durga Club
