The Mumbai-Goa highway is witnessing heavy traffic congestion as New Year travellers make their way to popular destinations like Goa and Alibaug in Maharashtra’s Raigad district. The situation has been exacerbated by ongoing road construction along key stretches, causing significant delays for commuters.

According to police officials, traffic snarls were particularly severe on Monday at Lonere, Mangaon, and Indapur Poinad near Mumbai. The influx of vehicles heading toward these holiday hotspots has created bottlenecks, with construction activities adding to the slow-moving traffic.

Highway patrol teams and local police units have been deployed to manage the situation and ease the flow of vehicles. Despite their efforts, the combination of increased travel during the festive season and infrastructure work continues to challenge smooth traffic movement.

Authorities have urged commuters to plan their journeys carefully and allow extra travel time while heading toward these popular destinations.
